(4). Vācāpeyya
The world’s rule is that people only like to hear themselves addressed in pleasant and friendly fashion. This is not true only of people; it applies to the animal world too.
Because his master drove him roughly and abusively, the bullock Nandī-visāla (Great-Joy) refused his burden and lost his master a large bet. Addressed politely and considerately when driven in a second attempt, he won the bet back again.
ေလာက၌လူတုိ႔မည္သည္ ခ်ိဳသာနာေပ်ာ္ ခ်စ္ခင္ဖြယ္ေသာ စကားကုိေျပာဆုိမွသာ ႀကိဳက္ႏွစ္သက္သည္။ လူကုိမဆုိထားႏွင့္ဦး တိရစၧာန္ျဖစ္ေသာ နႏၵ၀ိသာလႏြားကုိ ၾကမ္းတမ္းစြာ ေငါက္ငမ္းေမာင္းႏွင္ေသာေၾကာင့္ ၀န္ကုိမရုံး၍ အသျပာတစ္ေထာင္ ရႈံးသည္။ သာယာနာေပ်ာ္ ခ်ိဳသာစြာဆုိ၍ ေမာင္းႏွင္ျပန္မွ အသျပာ တစ္ေထာင္ကုိ ျပန္၍ ရသည္။
Because rough speech causes demerit and evil and must be avoided, pleasant speech is not only advantageous in this world, but in the next it provides a good passage to the world of the spirits. Such pleasant speech constitutes vācāpeyya.
ဤခ်စ္ဖြယ္ေသာစကားကုိ ဆုိျခင္းသည္ ပစၥဳပၸန္ေလာကတြင္သာ အက်ိဳးေပးသည္ မဟုတ္ အကုသုိလ္ ဒုစရိတ္ ျဖစ္ေသာ ဖရုသ၀ါစာကုိေရွာင္ၾကဥ္ျခင္းေၾကာင့္ ကုသိုလ္ ျဖစ္၍ ေနာင္တမလြန္၌လည္း နတ္ရြာသုဂတိကုိ ရရန္အေၾကာင္းပင္ျဖစ္သည္။ ဤသုိ႔ ခ်ိဳသာစြာေျပာဆုိျခင္းကုိပင္ ၀ါစာေပယ် ဟု ဆုိသည္။
That is why the Buddha uttered this stanza in the Jataka:- That is to say; speak only words kindness, never words unkind. For him who spoke him fair, he moved a heavy load, and brought him wealth, for love.
